This new house has helped my "eco-friendly side" to come out even more (I'm a huge fan of recycling but to this point, that's all I've really done). Now I'm venturing more into organic ways of cleaning... I thought I'd start off easy.
After doing some research I found an adorable blog that showed step by step directions on how to make dishwasher detergent with just a few ingredients. It seemed easy enough so I dove it and ran to Wal Mart (which is entirely too close to my house-- I find myself going there every day... ) to get the things I needed and came home ready to eco-clean my dishes.
This is all you need! (and some White Vinegar for the rinse cycle) ... See? Simple!
After mixing everything together I put it in the jar in the middle and set that next to the sink, near the dishwasher. It funcitional and it fits with my decore. You can't ask for more! :)
I literally searched around the house for dirty things so that I could test it out and see if it worked! I especially wanted to wash some glass items and see how that came out (if there were spots or not!) and they came out perfectly!
It works great and it's CHEAP! Two of my favorite things....
New Home Nesting
A new adventure is underway... becoming an adult... and buying a house! This Blog is dedicated to exploring my adventure in finding, buying and most importantly, decorating, my first home. Follow me and share in my joys and struggles as I figure this whole "house thing" out... and add your insight too! I'm the daughter of a project do-er so, there's sure to be a project or two here! I hope they inspire you to create something special in your home. Enjoy, my friends!

Excited Nerves
Moving back home with my parents wasn't bad. In fact, I enjoyed free food, free babysitting (for my dogs!) and free RENT! However, I'm a 20-something that has to decorate, entertain, and have a place for all my "stuff" .....and doing that at your parents home isn't the easiest thing.
Renting was an option. It seemed to be a wasteful one to me, but one nonetheless an option. There was something deep inside telling me there was something great a head of me... I just had to find it. And oh, did I look...
I'm slightly obessed with the housing market (I wrote my thesis on it, in fact) and I paid close attention to the sales (and lack of) around the area. I knew what house was up for sale, under contract and sold like most real estate agents did.
Then, right before Christmas...I FOUND IT! What a great Christmas it was!!
Little did I know, the adventure was just begginging.... Owning my first home would be more than I could have thought of (oh yes, the good and the bad!)
